Labor Day has just passed. I know it's a tough time for some folks. In the last two weeks, one friend got laid off with a lot of others. And a second saw more than half her department laid off.
I also know people who have had to take part time work because there wasn't anything else. And others who have had their salaries cut even as their workload was increased. And still others who were retired, but are looking for work again because they fear Social Security and Medicare cuts.
It's definitely a time to stop and appreciate labor.
It's also ten years since 9/11 this weekend. There are some new warnings out, so everyone stay safe.
I worked in the World Trade Center way back when. And my husband was in the city further uptown during the 9/11 attacks. For months afterward you could smell the smoke, even in Queens.
Did you know that barely an hour after the buildings collapsed, New Yorkers were standing on lines that went around the block uptown looking to donate blood for the survivors we all hoped there would be?
Many thanks to the people who came running from other states to help New Yorkers out during that tragedy. You let us know we weren't alone.
This week the governor of Texas sent out requests for relief for the difficulties they've been facing there with drought and wildfires. Ironically the Northeast has been struggling with flooding. It's been a tough time for many people. May we all grow closer together once again as we see it all through.
Have a good weekend everyone! And have a good Fall too!

Very nice post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I have truly enjoyed surfing around your blog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing to your feed and I hope you write again soon!
You got a definitely helpful blog I’ve been right here reading for about an hour. I’m a newbie and your accomplishment is quite a lot an inspiration for me.
This post resonates with me. My husband and sister were in Manhattan on 09/11. I could smell the carnage an hour away on Long Island by 09/13.
And many people are suffering on the environmental and economic fronts.
Thanks for remembering and reminding.
I can't believe it has been 10 years.
Just stopping by to say hi. Hi! I hope you're having a good week

Thank you Theresa & UnKnown Mami! I got tied up incredibly by all the construction work on our house. So much had to get completed before winter. We're just about finished with the outside now. There's some inside work to do, but I'm hoping that won't be too extensive. I really need some time off from construction!
Thank you especially, Theresa, for dropping by several times to see how I was.
